Kegel Training 101: Building Pelvic Floor Strength

Pelvic floor strength plays a bigger role in comfort, sensation, and overall wellness than most people realise — and kegel exercises are one of the simplest ways to build it. The pelvic floor muscles are the same ones you’d use to stop the flow of urine midstream; identifying that sensation is the first step to training them intentionally.

Kegel exercise weights and balls provide graduated resistance, letting you build strength progressively the same way you would with any other muscle group. Starting with a lighter weight for short sessions (a few minutes at a time) and gradually increasing duration or resistance tends to produce the best long-term results.

Consistency matters more than intensity here — a few minutes most days will do more than an occasional long session. Many people also find pelvic floor strength contributes to increased sensation over time.
